Bayer Leverkusen aims for redemption against AS Roma in Europa League semi-final
Bayer 04 Leverkusen is hoping to avenge last year's heartbreaking semi-final defeat to AS Roma when the two teams meet again on Thursday in the first leg of this season's Europa League semi-final.
Xabi Alonso's side, which lost on away goals to Roma in the 2021-22 semi-finals, will be looking to gain an advantage in the tie when they travel to the Stadio Olimpico.
Leverkusen has been in impressive form in the Europa League this season, winning five of their six group matches and then beating Ferencvaros, Monaco, and Atalanta in the knockout rounds.
Roma, meanwhile, has also been in good form, winning four of their six group matches and then beating Salzburg, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Feyenoord in the knockout rounds.
The match is expected to be a close and entertaining affair, with both teams having a chance to reach the final.
